Love our Nanit
We heard about Nanit from a friend and needed a baby monitor. I love that this stands on the floor, above and looking into the crib, so you get full ariel view of baby. But also if we ever need to move the crib or rearrange the room, we would have flexibility to move it in that scenario. It tells you humidity and temperature and you can set parameters if these ever go out of range to be alerted. The best feature is that it’s very AI driven and can track movements from you baby – so when you’re baby is up, making sound, etc – you will be alerted; and it will even tell you when your baby falls asleeps and for how long they’ve slept. Really takes a lot of the guess work out of monitoring your baby so you don’t have to be eyeing them like a hawk all the time.
Wish I Would Have Bought It Sooner
I tried to hold out on purchasing the Nanit because I was trying to be frugal as a first-time mom on a budget, but honestly after using this product for just a few days I can safely say it is a must-have for any parent or caregiver.
The Nanit goes above and beyond, and to call it simply a “baby monitor” would be an understatement. While it definitely does help monitor a baby, it also collects and provides insights on their sleeping patterns/time, while also serving as a digital scrapbook of sorts since it records and compiles milestones for parents to reflect on.
It also provides an extra layer in easing this new mamas worry by incorporating a breathing band which will alert you if it senses anything is wrong with your baby. The app interface is very easy to use, and it was simple and quick to add on my husband so he could also get alerts and monitor the baby. We also paired our Nanit with the Nanit smart crib sheet for a total Nanit experience.
I really struggled with whether to get the wall mount, flex stand or floor stand, and am pleased I chose the floor stand since this makes it easy to move around our house or even travel with it. The floor stand base is substantial and I love how Nanit thought of safety every step of the way by enclosing any extra wire to reduce choking hazards.
In terms of aesthetics, I am super particular about how things “look” in my home since I love interior decorating, and the design is modern, minimal and not intrusive no matter what your decor style is.
Overall, I am thrilled with the ease of installation, the features the Nanit offers for peace of mind, the quality of the stand/video it records and the interface of the app itself. I’ve been much more productive at home because I feel at ease leaving my daughter to nap in her crib.
Great baby camera for any parent!
This camera is a great camera for any parent, new or old. This camera stand set is a new design, which I believe to be an upgrade from the old tripod design. It’s much more stable and leaves less of a footprint. The base is heavy and solid, which you want it to be to be able to prevent tipping of the camera. The stand itself feels of a lightweight plastic, which is good for portability, but time will tell on durability. I also wish the 45-deg point of the stand was adjustable so we can have more flexibility in the angles of the camera when our child grows older. But I also do like some of the plastic tubing that runs the wire along the floor for a more clean look, and to prevent a trip hazard. Overall, a great thoughtful design.
The Nanit camera itself still use the plug-in design, which connects two power prongs, one USB-C for connection and one plastic hook type thing. It’s the same plastic hook thing that I have on my more portable Nanit stand, and on that stand the hook had somehow broke without falling or anything…so I’m not the biggest fan of the plastic design. Another reason is that my toddler sometimes grabs and shakes the stand, and the camera subsequently comes a little loose – never to the point of falling off, but to the point of losing the temperature/humidity monitoring.
I love the app features for Nanit. Being able to track when the baby gets put down, when he wakes up, how long he slept, and how many times he woke up and when is key to our sleep planning. I also love how Nanit tailors it’s tips on how to help our child sleep whenever it notices that he had a not-so-great sleep/nap. And lastly, I like the memory clips of our child. I would highly recommend Nanit as your go-to baby camera.
